The King’s Head has fifteen rooms. Each have full en-suite with either shower over bath or walk in shower. Four poster, double, family, triple and twin rooms are all available. The King’s Head is an AA graded 3 Star inn and is a grade 2 listed building. The original winding stairs date from the Queen Anne period. All of the bedrooms are either on the first or second floor. Unfortunately, they do not have a lift. Therefore please inform them, when booking, if you find climbing stairs difficult. All the rooms have tea and coffee trays, biscuits, complimentary filtered water, direct dial access telephones, free WiFi and flat-screen Freeview television. The superior rooms are larger and have DAB i-pod docking radios.
The newly refurbished King’s Head conservatory restaurant is a relaxing environment to enjoy an evening. Their chefs use local market fresh produce, offering a tantalising menu, with something to suit all tastes. The restaurant is open to non-residents and is extremely popular in the local area. To guarantee a reservation they recommend contacting the hotel in advance to make a booking.
The King’s Bar, offers three hand pulled traditional real ales and is CAMRA and The Good Pub Guide recommended. A popular destination for both locals and travellers to meet, the King’s Bar has a traditional old inn atmosphere. The bar has an impressive oak beamed ceiling, original wooden floor and comfortable leather and wooden seating. A full range of single malts, spirits and liqueurs are served; wine is available by the glass or bottle and they have a small list of freshly made classic cocktails. They also offer a small range of home-made bar bites. Evening meals can be served in the King’s Bar but not usually at the weekend.
They are dog friendly and most of the rooms can be booked to stay with your pooch. Please inform them if you plan to bring a dog. They would recommend the larger rooms for more comfort. The bar and library are also dog friendly. The library is an ideal place to have breakfast or an evening meal with your doggie. Again, please advise them if you wish to dine with your pet.
