This Grade II listed country pub was originally an old coaching inn built in the 17th Century. It has been extended periodically but retains many of its traditional features including brick fireplaces and original timber beams.
They serve local real ales straight from the cask whilst the warm and cosy restaurant offers seasonal modern British food in relaxed surroundings. Their style is described as Modern British and European with a regularly changing menu and on Sunday lunchtimes they serve a cracking roast.
The wine list is quite unique, and focuses on the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France and they also serve homemade punch and real cider from Cromwell along with a good selection of soft drinks.
Their delightful nine en-suite bedrooms include the new Science Wing which has four fabulous bedrooms named after four of the 20th century’s most influential scientists. Erasmus is their superior room, whilst The Goodall room can be arranged either as a twin or as a super king. Each bedroom comes with Freeview TV & Wifi, Egyptian cotton linen, a Nespresso machine and kettle, toiletries and a hairdryer.
A walk or cycle along the river is the perfect way to work up an appetite and there is a lovely riverside path from Cambridge city centre.
