The 2017 Cambridge CAMRA Pub of the Year, The Red Lion is a traditional cask ale led pub offering home cooked food and luxury en-suite accommodation.
A beer house since 1836, the Red Lion continues to embrace its grain led origins, recently winning Cambridge CAMRA’s pub of the year award. Throw in a freshly cooked pub menu, 4 modern en-suite bedrooms, a cracking annual beer festival, pub teams galore (petanque, darts, crib) and a huge splattering of community spirit and you’ll begin to see a little of what they’re about!
Tucked away on the outskirts of Cambridge and proudly located in the ever-growing town of Histon, they offer a great spot to drink, eat or stay regardless of the time of day or year!
They like to think they do everything a pub should when it comes to food. Hearty portions, locally sourced produce, freshly prepared & served with a smile! They offer a range of pub classics with daily specials to supplement and keep things interesting. The Sunday roasts and fish & chip suppers (Tuesday nights & Wednesday lunch and evenings) are pretty legendary and if you haven’t eaten for a month, the ‘Ultimate Burger’ is sure to do the trick!
With 9 cask-ales on offer, 2-3 Ciders, a Perry, authentic European Lagers, Fruit & Wheat Beers, 20+ Belgian Bottles as well as an ever-changing array of guest offerings, the Lion has the beer side covered. Add to this a carefully selected range of wines, spirits and non-alcoholics and hopefully they have a little something for everyone.
The recently built bedrooms are ready and open for bookings, quietly housed in an annex a short stroll across the garden. They have 4 double rooms (2 of the rooms can be twinned). All rooms are en-suite and feature free wired and wireless internet connections, large wall mounted smart TV’s and tea/coffee making facilities. Parking is available on a first come, first serve basis with free parking located around the village if required.
The rooms are offered on a room only basis Sunday to Friday evenings with a bed and breakfast rate available on Saturday evenings. Please note, there are a number of local cafes where breakfast can be taken and they will happily make arrangements for you should you wish!
