Three of a Kind: Pubs with Quirky Bedrooms

Our Three of a Kind series takes a look at a trio of pub stays with one common feature and provides unique inspiration for a trip away. This week, our focus is on pubs with quirky bedrooms, ideal if you’re looking for a truly majestic stay in unique accommodation that you certainly won’t forget in a hurry.

When looking for a place to stay, for some, simply just a roof over their head will do. For others, a little touch of luxury is the requirement. Then for others, their getaway is a chance to push the boat out, book the uniquely unusual and create some fantastic, unforgettable memories that will continuously provide moments of “remember when we stayed here?” long into the future.

In honour of this, here’s three pubs with quirky bedrooms we think offer a mesmerising stay that will be the talk of the office lunch hour, provide you with top-tier Instagram content and, most importantly, allow you to have wonderful and relaxing break.

The Bell, Ticehurst – East Sussex

Truthfully we could have just filled this whole list with a selection of rooms from The Bell, with the accommodation designed to establish a unique sense of vibrancy and each room displaying lashings of individual character. There’s a room with 100 roses floating from the ceiling, or one with a silver a birch tree coming through the floorboards – but our pick of the bunch has to be ‘The Love Nest’; built for romance, this round room has a copper bath, a wood burner, and even a curved TV and sofa. Venture up the spiral staircase and a whole new world opens up on the private roof terrace overlooking the garden and village beyond.

The Guy Fawkes Inn, York – North Yorkshire

The Guy Fawkes Inn is a medieval inn in York that stands in the shadow of York Minster, with the building holding so much history as the spot that Guy Fawkes himself was born in 1570. Whilst centuries have passed, this historical building is so well preserved that you could be forgiven for thinking it all happened yesterday! The retention and preservation of history is characterised best by their Four Poster Double bedroom, dressed in teal and the ceiling centred by a illustrious chandelier. The room also has a fabulous view of York Cathedral and for those worrying that all the amenities are medieval, fear not as some modernity is present, with the bedroom including a Freeview TV and WiFi.
