Three of a Kind: Golf Courses in Kent

Our Three of a Kind series looks at a trio of pub stays with one common feature and provides unique inspiration for a trip away. This week, our focus is on three pubs near prestigious golf courses in Kent.

Kent is home to over 80 golf courses, all of which boast picturesque views of the county’s rolling landscape or coastline. Kent is best known for some of the UK’s premier championship links on the east coast trail, offering a range of parkland, downland and inland layouts, which are surrounded by lush green and tranquil settings.

For those planning a golf break, we have put together three pubs with rooms, close to major golf courses in Kent.

The Duke William, Ickham, Kent

This wonderfully cosy pub is a 30-minute drive to Princes Golf Club, on the east coast of the country. The prestigious golf club boasts 27 holes of championship links in three 9-hole loops: The Shore, The Dunes and The Himalayas. The coastal terrain and seaside breeze, together with the 97 revetted bunkers make for challenging golf.

The Duke William has four stylish bedrooms; each named after a favourite culinary hero and made to feel like another home from home for guests. Before a day out on the course, enjoy one of the pub’s hearty full English or Continental breakfasts.

The Woolpack Inn, Chilham, Kent

The Woolpack is approximately 45-minutes to Royal St. George’s Golf Club in the car, and is said to be one of England’s finest and most challenging links golf courses. The idyllic golf course is set in 450 acres of dune land and has hosted the Open Championship 14 times. Golfers can enjoy picturesque views of the Channel seascape sweeping from Ramsgate to the north, across Pegwell Bay to Deal in the South.

After a day golfing, come back to hearty home-cooked pub food and a friendly welcome at this 600-year-old inn. The Woolpack Inn has 14 well-appointed bedrooms, including luxury four-poster rooms with roll-top baths.

No.64 at The Joiners, West Malling, Kent

Just a 17-minute drive from London Golf Club, No.64 is at the heart of the High Street in West Malling – an historic market town in Kent less than an hour from London. The pub offers boutique accommodation with stylish interiors.

Golfers are spoilt for choice with many excellent courses to choose from including West Malling, Kings Hill, Wrotham Heath and the fantastic London Golf Club.

The London Golf Club was a European Tour Destination and part of the IMG Prestige network. Set across 700 acres of scenic Kent countryside, the International course is pure downland and the undulating fairways force a links-style approach.
