Six Stay in a Pub Inns Make U.K.’s Top Gastropub List

The tail-end of January saw Estrella Damm host their coveted annual Top Gastropubs event, awarding the very best U.K. gastropubs to enjoy in 2022. One hundred pubs made the final shortlist, with the top 50 invited to the main event in London. Within the Top 100, there are six pubs bookable with Stay in a Pub, with three of these making the Top 50! We’re so proud of the work these pubs have put in, as well as wanting to give a massive congratulations to every pub featured in the rankings.

Here’s the six Stay in a Pub inns that made the Top 100 Gastropub ranking, ready for you to book straight away!

#78 – The Thomas Lord, Hampshire

Expert chefs at The Thomas Lord use as much local produce as possible to aid their award-winning menus and the pub also features its own kitchen garden and free-range chicken run. The Thomas Lord also has five stunning wood cabins as accommodation, located in the beautiful gardens. Each lavish cabin features king size beds, a private porch and double doors leading into the quaint pub grounds. Your four-legged friend is also more than welcome in your cabin, with The Thomas Lord offering dog friendly bedrooms.

#63 – The Charlton Arms, Shropshire

The Charlton Arms have 12 en-suite bedrooms which range from cosy and well equipped double rooms, through to their luxurious Othello Suite which features it’s own private terrace and hot tub. Their delicious food is inspired by modern British and pub classics, featuring the best seasonal produce available and in the morning you can enjoy the morning papers, take in the views and indulge in a delicious cooked breakfast which includes locally made sausages, cured bacon or smoked salmon with scrambled Clun Valley eggs.

#60 – The Greyhound on The Test, Hampshire

This historic inn is perfectly located for shooting, fishing and walking in this most desirable town of Stockbridge. The inn itself is packed with low beams, and also features a log-burning fire, making it a relaxing place to relax. The menu at The Greyhound is diverse, including large plate meat dishes with beef, pork and ray wing, while you can also expect lighter bites including fragrant curries, burgers and sharing boards.

#43 – The Three Hills, Cambridgeshire

The Three Hills’ food has been awarded the prestigious Two Star AA Rosette and Michelin Plate and their style is best described as Modern British, with a focus on good, honest, wholesome food using fresh, local ingredients. From light bites and classic dishes to special meals for little ones and delicious Sunday roasts, this pub offers something for everyone. Their bedrooms are full of character, with four situated in the annexe and a further two on the first floor of the pub. Each bedroom comes with Hungarian goose down duvets, duck and goose down pillows, Egyptian cotton sheets, pocket sprung mattresses and Nespresso coffee machines.

#31 – Shibden Mill Inn, West Yorkshire

The Inn’s reputation for warm hospitality, premier gastro dining and first class accommodation draws people to the Shibden Valley from far and wide, and the Mill has naturally become a popular choice for those wishing to savour a sumptuous weekend break or mid-week stay. #25 – The Swan, Devon

The Swan is a AA Four Star Gold classic English country inn, the oldest pub in Bampton, and they offer some of the very finest dishes using seasonal, regional ingredients, peppered with top-notch customer service. Enjoy a good night’s sleep in the heart of Devon in one of their three B&B rooms.
