Dog-friendly pubs with walks

Without further ado, here’s 7 of the best pub stays with walks for your family and dog(s) to enjoy!

1. A Woodland Walk Through Wareham Forest, Dorset // The Canford

TOG says: “Wareham Forest is there to be explored. Managed by Forest England, there are many tracks running through the woodlands with this short walk taking the wide track from the Sika Trail car park to a magnificent viewpoint. There is a mixture of new and old trees along this track as well as heather and moorland. It is home to a range of wildlife, such as the sika deer and you may also catch sightings of woodlarks, who make their nest on the ground in the heathlands. If you’re lucky, you may also see a sand lizard or smooth snake!”

2. Hathersage Dog Walk, Peak District // The Devonshire Arms

TOG says: “This lovely walk starts and ends in the pretty Peak District village of Hathersage, and takes in some beautiful countryside along the way, designed by Phil Sproson. It’s relatively flat and gentle with only a few small hills, and for the most part, uses well-made paths and lanes. There are 3 short stretches of road, one of which has no pavement, so you might want to bear this in mind if your dog isn’t great in traffic. There will most probably be sheep on the route, so your dog should always be kept on a lead – although you’re unlikely to encounter cows. There are no stiles or squeeze stiles. There are dog-friendly cafes and a pub for refreshments en route, and Heathersage has a wealth of shops and eateries to enjoy before and after the walk.”
