National Pub & Bar of the Year Winner

The Frogmill, Cheltenham

Where better place to start than the top prize? We wholeheartedly congratulate The Frogmill, in Shipton Oliffe near Cheltenham, named the 2022 National Pub & Bar of the year! A thoroughly deserved victory having been a mainstay recommended pub on www.stayinapub.co.uk for many years.

Nestled in the sweeping Gloucestershire countryside, The Frogmill sits between charming Cotswold villages and provides a picture-perfect escape. This 16th century inn has been transformed into a showstopper offering delicious food and 28 boutique bedrooms, many of which are dog friendly.

The pub, which operates under Brakspear’s Honeycomb Houses, was praised on the awards night for its flawless operation, attention to detail and genuine hospitality.

Speaking about the award, Simon Stanbrook, general manager at The Frogmill, said: “I’m completely overwhelmed. This award is for the team — from our housekeeping to kitchen and events to front of house teams, they work exceptionally hard day in, day out. We work together like a family. We have an eye for detail and want to give our visitors a warm welcome. It’s part of the mantra of Honeycomb Houses — treat your team like family, your guests like friends and the houses like homes. We welcome people as you would in your own home.

The Frogmill won the Gloucestershire county award and scooped up the Best in the South West regional award on the night, before making it a hattrick with the top prize as National champions! Well done to the team at The Frogmill for their incredible achievement.

West Midlands Pub & Bar of the Year Winner // Pub Chef of the Year Winner

The Riverside at Aymestrey // Andy Link

The Riverside at Aymestrey was extremely successful on two fronts; the pub itself and the food it serves. Initially awarded Herefordshire Pub of the Year, The Riverside’s trip to Euston Square meant they left with more awards than they could carry – West Midlands Pub & Bar of the Year and for Head Chef, Andy Link, Pub Chef of the Year in recognition of his incredible passion for food.

The Riverside is a fabulous gastro pub set in the pretty village of Aymestrey. Authentic and atmospheric, this 16th century black and white building is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Herefordshire countryside. The terrace garden with riverside views is the perfect spot for some al fresco dining on their delicious, award-winning food.
