Visit the inland county of West Yorkshire, home to Leeds, Bradford and Wakefield, as well as pretty Pennine villages. Whilst north and east Yorkshire are well known for the countryside and dramatic coastlines, West Yorkshire boasts industrial heritage towns, grand city parks, urban cultural walks and the Pennine trails.
A trip to West Yorkshire would not be complete without a visit to the cosmopolitan city of Leeds. The unofficial capital of Yorkshire is bursting with life and energy and is renowned for being a top retail destination, where big brands meet Victorian arcades.  Home to two major universities,  Leeds has a vibrant social scene, complete with state of the art restaurants, bars and clubs.
Although Leeds is considered quite a modern city, there is history and heritage around every corner. Wander around Kirkgate Market, Europe’s largest indoor market which features fresh produce, fashion, jewellery, flowers and haberdashery. Home to some of the most characterful traders in the city, Kirkgate Market is a truly vibrant place to visit whilst in Leeds.
For those looking to explore the history of the city, Harewood House and Gardens is an ancient Georgian property which sits in beautiful landscaped gardens. Discover the Chippendale furniture and jaw-dropping interior designs in the State Rooms, the servant quarters and the various areas of the house.  Outside, children can play on the adventure playground or admire the penguins and flamingos in the Gardens.
The Pennines in West Yorkshire has many areas of natural beauty and a great place for walking and hiking. The route across Widdop Moor that connects Hebden Bridge with the Colne Valley offers nine miles of quiet and deserted tracks.  The range of mountains and hills gives way to various trails, from gentle walks to more challenging hill-top hikes.
