Surrounded by picturesque coastline, jam-packed with fun water sports and bustling with energy, lies the beautiful Isle of Wight. Despite being a rather small island, millions of visitors come to the island every year for the sandy beaches, Cowes Week or for a visit to the popular Isle of Wight festival.

For those looking to kick back and relax while on the Isle of Wight, the beaches at Shanklin and Sandown have some of the best sandy beaches on the island. In fact, Sandown Bay won ‘Beach of the Year’ in the BBC Countryfile Magazine Awards 2019.

Surfers will prefer to go to West Wight beaches, such as renowned surf spot, Compton Bay. The beach has been likened to those in Cornwall, with its rugged coastline and barrelling waves. Families can enjoy the various attractions and wildlife centres peppered around the island, such as Tapnell Farm Park, Monkey Haven and The Needles Landmark Attraction.

With so many things to see and do on a visit to the Isle of Wight, it is easy to see why it is a popular holiday destination for both domestic and overseas tourists. For more information on what there is to see, check out our Things to Do in the Isle of Wight page.
