Situated on the coast of East Scotland, Angus is a breath-taking region full of beautiful glens, stunning coastlines and exceptional natural beauty. Sandwiched between Aberdeenshire, Dundee City and Perth and Kinross, Angus provides a great opportunity for a relaxing getaway for individuals or families, with plenty of things to do like history and geographical beauty to keep you interested.

Culture

There’s a plethora of historic buildings and learning centres in Angus. At Pictavia, the unique story of the ancient tribe of the Picts can be discovered, or head to the beautiful Arbroath Abbey founded by King William the Lion in 1178. Castles are aplenty here, with Edzell and Glamis Castles only a few hours’ drive away, both living, breathing monuments to Angus’s heritage.

Museums are in no short supply, no matter what your taste, from Brechin Town House Museum displaying local exhibitions of history, to the Broughty Castle Museum; a stunning 15th century coastal fort with great coastal views and plenty of activities.

Music, theatre and adventure lovers can take part in the multitude of festivals and events Angus has to offer. The legendary Abroath Sea Fest takes place here celebrating Angus’s maritime heritage with rides, local food and displays, or try the Dundee Jazz festival for music lovers.

Nature

The green hills, rolling countryside and stunning coastlines of Angus are home to a multitude of activities and attractions to keep you busy, with acres of the Cairngorms national park (the largest in the UK) to explore, or in sunny weather spend a day at one of the gorgeous beaches on offer like the award winning Broughty Ferry beach.

If you’re an animal lover then a must see is the Montrose Basin Visitor Centre, where viewing galleries and telescopes offer guests amazing views of local wildlife, particularly the wide variety of birds of prey in this region. The Seacliff nature trail along the Angus coastline allow you to see a large variety of birds, mammals and local wild plants, as well as spectacular coastal views.
