A snapshot maybe, but what better way to uncover a little of the history of the coastal village of Tynemouth and its seafaring neighbour North Shields. The coastal walk from St Mary’s Island, following the naturally stunning coastline through Whitley Bay and Cullercoats to Tynemouth Priory and Castle and finishing on the historic North Shields Fish Quay. This walk along the coast will give you a flavour of everything you could wish for from a trip to the sea; birds, flowers, history, art, literature, architecture, modern culture and, for those with a yearning for the traditional seaside day out, there may even be some candyfloss along the way.
