The Bird in the Hand 1774 is in a superb position for those visiting the area and has spectacular views of the River Severn and the Ironbridge Gorge.

Why not enjoy a very relaxed break at our family run Inn, which was built in 1774. Our famous Inn has been serving customers real ales for over 235 years. The 1st pint was drank 5 years before the Iron bridge was completed. For the past 28 years the Poulton family (Bill, Hazel, Steve and Michelle) have been successfully serving customers food and real ales in this famous Inn. So as you can see we really are a family run Inn!

We are situated in the historical village of Ironbridge, central to all the museums and Blists Hill Victorian Town. The Inn is set in its own grounds, in a prominent position with spectacular views of the river severn and the Ironbridge gorge, giving customers a superb location for their visits to all the museums in the area. Step back in time and walk on the first Iron Bridge to be built in the world that spans the river Severn, which is also the longest river in Great Britain. The source of the river severn is Plynlimon Wales and discharges into the Bristol Channel.

Our 237 year old cosy dining room has an inglenook fire place with beamed walls and ceiling, an excellent selection of old brasses, comfortable seating with good sized tables for dining, all the furniture was re-upholstered in 2010 in material up keeping with the age of the Inn. Our 'Titanic' style resident's bar is stocked with draught and bottled beers and a wide range of quality wines, spirits and liqueurs

We have an excellent menu with a choice of 15 starters, 38 main courses from steaks, lamb, pork, gammon, chicken, mix grill, home-made steak in ale, chicken curry and many other spicy dishes, 5 fish dishes, full vegetarian menu and Sunday roast, finally but no least step back in time for our Spotted dick, treacle and Jam sponges.

Many of the local guest houses in Ironbridge recommend us to their guests as we have built up an excellent reputation for local dining over the past 26 years. We also have a 5 star dining rating and a 5 star hygiene rating.

The Bird in Hand offers 3 wonderfully appointed guest bedrooms. All our bedrooms have a view of the river and our superb en-suite accommodation is taste-fully furnished with full sized beds with memory foam mattresses and comfy chairs.
