Details

Here at the Shoulder of Mutton we are a comfortable 10 minute walk away from the city centre with a bar, restaurant, 7 letting bedrooms, beautiful garden area and free private parking.

The building dates back to 1889 and was previously a doctors surgery. The property then underwent some renovation work to turn it into a small hotel with en-suite letting rooms.

It is rumoured that Paul Newman Stayed here at the peak of his career along with other well known celebrities back in the day. In 1980 our sun trapped garden won the prize of 'Best Beer Garden in Britain' and was well known as 'THE place to go to' for diners and people wanting to enjoy an evening having a sociable drink - We plan to maintain this good name!

We pride ourselves on our friendly and helpful staff who work hard to make your stay as comfortable and homely as possible, no request is too much trouble!

We hold low-key regular entertainment such as Live Music, Speed Quiz (one of only 3 venues in York to host it), Poker Nights and Themed Dining Events.
