Details

Originally a 16th century Ferryman's inn, the Red Lion is open for B&B throughout the year; they offer superb food, fine wines and real ale. Each bedroom has its own individual character and decor.

The main bar incorporates the original 16th Century structure of the Ferrymans Inn. The horsetrough which stood outside the front door now resides under the stone steps which lead to the bedrooms.

Traditionally panelled and floored in Oak by local craftsmen - the bar is a popular meeting and eating place for villagers and guests alike. They serve a wide selection of cask conditioned real ales and fine wines to be enjoyed along with an extensive brasserie menu.

The Head Chef Olivier deserves a special mention. Along with a talented and enthusiastic kitchen brigade his combination of individuality and skill has ensured retention of the AA Rosette. Imaginative, seasonally changing menus, using only the finest of ingredients have given The Red Lion a 'dining room with a difference'.

In addition to The Red Lion the Manor House is their B&B, which is located 150 yards from the Red Lion, Where you are welcome to eat and drink. The bedrooms are modern and simple in this old Victorian ‘Manor House, most having lovely views of the River Wharfe and village.

There are 25 bedrooms in total each with its own individual character and decor - successfully combining ancient and modern. Gleaming bathrooms, Victorian brass beds, beamed ceilings, antique furniture - the Honeymoon Suites even have log fires. Most of the rooms also offer wonderful views to the river and the fells beyond.

The sitting room is the ideal place to relax - with aperitifs before dinner, coffee afterwards, or just with a good book in front of the roaring log fire.
