Details

Hidden away in the North Yorkshire Dales is the picturesque market town of Settle, in the heart of the village lies The Lion; a little gem of an inn.

The Lion is an inn with a great reputation that expands much further than the Yorkshire Dales thanks to its 4 star rating with the AA. After a day exploring the Yorkshire Dales pull up a chair beside the Inglenook fireplace - it’s just one of many original features restored in this seventeenth century Settle coaching inn.

The Lion is a characterful building filled with the original features and charm of the original Coaching Inn. You will find Inglenook fireplaces, wooden floors, a grand staircase lined with pictures tracing back through Settle’s history, and lovingly restored floors and furniture in the guest rooms. The combination of these beautiful period features and the stunning setting in the foothills of the Pennines gives you the ingredients to enjoy a truly special break.

If food is a passion of yours, you are in for a treat. The Lion believe in using fresh, local in-season produce in their dishes and work closely with trusted suppliers and farmers in the area. Dishes are simple in their creation yet perfectly executed by Chef, John Wild and his team. Feast on a Butcher’s Board piled high with Scotch egg, pulled pork, roast beef and horseradish, chicken liver pate, chutney, crispy onion rings, coleslaw and bread, or try the popular Wainwright beer battered fresh haddock with homemade chips. All food is best washed down with great ales, which are a plenty at The Lion. Find a full range of Thwaites award-winning cask ales, guest ales and Signature Range.

To ensure a comfortable night’s sleep all the rooms at The Lion are filled with little details such as; complimentary WiFi throughout the inn, flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, large comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms and complimentary toiletries.

To wake you from your slumber, there is a hearty full English breakfast served in the mornings, made with Yorkshire sausages, bacon and eggs form local settle suppliers.

Dogs are more than welcome to The Lion for just a small fee of £15 per stay, of which 10% is donated to the SARDA. If you plan on taking your pet along, let The Lion know at the time of booking.
