For fabulous food, friendly yet attentive service and a relaxed overnight stay, The Royal Oak is the perfect choice. We’re housed in a beautifully renovated 18th Century Coaching Inn, right in the centre of the historic city of Ripon. A perfect base for exploring Yorkshire being close to the beautiful spa towns of Harrogate and Knaresborough , the market town and racecourse of Thirsk and not too far from historic York.

Dine

We have a firm focus on food, using high quality locally sourced ingredients. Our head chef Jonathan creates fresh tasting dishes for a menu that combines modern exciting cuisine with some ever-popular more traditional and comforting choices. Whatever you want, whatever the season, The Royal Oak is sure to have something on the menu to suit your appetite.

Drink

The heart of any good pub is its cask ale, and it is this that defines a great pub as opposed to a restaurant. The bar is the beating heart of the pub and the centre of activity and the defining character of our premium pubs.

The soul of our drink line up is always the beer, after all we are a Timothy Taylors pub and it is essential that our cask ale is served in top condition in all its award winning glory. Our wines are hand picked by us with our superb wine suppliers who are small enough to cater to our every whim and are regularly seen running wine and food matching evenings or slurping a brash new world red in a corner by the fire.

Our lagers, bottles and spirits range aims to cater for everyone from those in need of a trusted pint of lager to those with aspirations to try something a bit different or a cut above the normal.

Sleep

Who really wants to drive after a delicious dinner and a glass or two of fine wine? So why not treat yourself and stay over? We have 6 stylish bedrooms, each individually decorated and appointed to the highest of standards, with little touches of luxury and comfort for a truly relaxing night. And of course, a harty Yorkshire breakfast is included too.

Service

What is fantastic food without superior service? We’re committed to delivering service that is a little more special. Our staff are professionals dedicated to excellence so you can be assured of the highest standards of service in an easy, relaxed atmosphere. Whatever you might want, we aim to provide it, so if you have a special request, please let us know.

With our combination of quality, style and service we like to think that we are one of Yorkshire’s finest inns. We hope you will too. We’re easily accessible being near the motorway, just 10 minutes from the A1.
