Details

An award winning pub that prides itself on offering a friendly and efficient service; showcasing the best of local produce as well as stocking an extensive range of wines and cask ales.

The Durham Ox is a traditional 300-year old pub, family owned for the last twelve years. We are situated in the historic village of Crayke, North Yorkshire, with breath-taking views over the vale of York on three sides, and a charming view up the hill to the medieval Church. Crayke is less than 25 minutes from York City Centre and in the heart of Herriot Country.

An award winning traditional pub complete with flag stone floors, exposed beams, oak panelling and roaring fires in winter. For those wishing for over-night accommodation there are five converted farm cottages that provide a peaceful and charming place to stay and the converted Studio Suite located above the pub.

The Durham Ox embraces the principle of good food in relaxed surroundings and we have always endeavoured to use the freshest and best of ingredients, bought locally.

Our A LA CARTE MENU celebrates a fabulous array of locally sourced meats, vegetables, fresh fish and seafood. As the seasons change so do our menus, to reflect the wealth of local produce for which this area is renowned. We also make all our own bread and petit fours. With a special DESSERT & COCKTAIL menu for a truly fabulous finish to any meal. We cater for all dietary requirements.

Our various BLACK BOARD dishes complement our menus, with fish or meat dishes we may not be able to source on a regular basis. Game & seafood dishes are firm favourites as well as asparagus, wild garlic & wild mushrooms – all dependent on the seasons and availability.

All our rooms are individually designed whether the renovated farm cottages or The Studio Suite within the main Ox building. These are generous, comfortable relaxed spaces offering country style chic in a rural setting.

All accommodation has a television, tea and coffee tray, hair dryer and individually controlled heating. H2k of Harrogate products are provided in all of the rooms.

Breakfast is served from 8 am - 9:30 am Monday to Friday and 8 am - 10 am Saturday and Sunday. Please do let us know in advance if you require breakfast outside of these times.

All of our accommodation is dog friendly apart from our Studio Suite.

We would be delighted to arrange the following in advance of your stay.

Guy de Chassey Grand Cru Champagne
£39.95 per bottle.

Hand Tied Bouquet of Seasonal Flowers
£30 (24 hours notice required).
