The Eagle and Child is a former coaching inn built in 1850. This pub has a stunning orangery dining room and five fabulous new boutique bedrooms.
Inside the Eagle and Child you will find a stylish space featuring a fabulous light-filled bar and orangery with wonderful views to Holcombe Moor and the iconic Peel Tower. The bar is spacious with comfortably padded booths lit by huge glass globes and the airy dining area, with its floor to ceiling windows sports snazzy black & white harlequin floor tiles.
This pub is passionate about serving up the finest Lancashire pub grub with fresh local and seasonal ingredients - Their meat comes from the Lancashire countryside in particular the Bowland fells and their fish is supplied fresh from Fleetwood. You’ll also find their home-grown vegetables in some of the dishes and they were awarded the ‘Best Food Pub’ accolade in the Manchester Food and Drink Festival awards in both 2014 and 2016. (Sample menu in the pdf below)
You will also find a great range of good quality cask ales as they work alongside Daniel Thwaites to provide top quality ales including Heritage, their own ale ‘Top Bunk’ and guest and seasonal specials when available. They are on the East Lancs Rail Ale Trail and to complement their tasty grub, they have put together a great value wine list with a selection of great grapes from around the world. They also do their own cocktails, which much like everything they do, are their twist on classic recipes!
The pub has recently undergone a substantial refurbishment and they now offer first class accommodation – five lovely boutique ‘Owl’ bedrooms designed with the owls in mind and bespoke artwork by Fran Giffard. All rooms are en-suite with wet rooms, and two of these rooms are suites with Juliette balconies and fine views overlooking the grassed roof of the Orangery, with those stunning views across the Rossendale Valley to the graceful hills beyond. Bathrooms are luxurious, one with beautiful Moroccan tiles, another with an extraordinary back-lit panel, made exclusively, and the monsoon shower glass is etched with an Eagle and a Child!
Each room has a whole host of little luxuries including a complimentary mini-bar and Espresso machine. Room prices are for two people and includes a continental breakfast hamper for Sunday to Thursday stay overs and a full Lancashire breakfast for Friday and Saturday stay overs.
The Eagle and Child has nearly an acre of unused garden space, a sizeable area that has allowed them to fit in loads of exciting features including an outdoor kitchen, polytunnel, vegetable beds, compost beds, fruit shrubs and ornamental beds, mini orchard with chickens and children’s area. The garden is a working allotment project, landscaped so you can enjoy eating and drinking amongst their home grown fruit and vegetables!
