Details

This pub is a little gem in the heart of the Ribble Valley. The Millstone has been welcoming travellers since the 1700’s.

Part of the Thwaites Inns of Character collection, it really has made its mark in Lancashire and has recently had a full downstairs refurbishment providing a fantastic environment to relax.

Locally sourced food is a feature of all the menus and General Manager, Tim Parker and the team are rightly proud of their 2 AA rosettes which they have now held for an amazing 10 years.

The pub has a relaxed and informal experience and the team are super friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to recommend dishes for you to try. The menu features lots of traditional favourites with Thwaites Battered Fish and Chips and the Bowland Steak and Kidney pudding always best sellers. There are also slightly more exotic dishes such as Duck Spring Rolls and Tempura Seafood that have been such stars through the years that each time the Chef takes them off the menu there’s a revolt and they have to go back on. Oh – and did we mention the Tandoori chicken breast…

With Daniel Thwaites as a parent company you can expect to taste some pretty special craft and cask ales, all brewed just a couple of miles away, and there’s regular guest ales too from other local brewers. The team are skilled at matching beers with the food, and just in case beer is not your thing, there’s an extensive gin list and a range of great wines too.

Guest accommodation is cosy and comfortable, and endorsed by the AA with a 5 star inn grading. Rooms have quirky touches and really are all different – when you find your favourite let the team know and they’ll do their best to reserve it for you on the next stay.

After a peaceful night’s sleep, wake up to the aroma of a freshly cooked breakfast made with delicious Ribble Valley sausages, bacon and eggs from the local suppliers. Or why not try the signature breakfast – Eggs Arnold Bennett? If you fancy an early morning constitutional walk around the village to work up an appetite, don’t worry they serve till 10am each day on a weekend.

The combination of cosy guest rooms, fantastic home-cooked food and fabulous quality cask ales and wines are all delivered with exceptional hospitality. Whether you’re popping in for a pint, a romantic meal for two or a quick midweek supper, The Millstone really is the perfect village pub.
