Naval heritage meets contemporary style at the Ship and Trades - a stunning bar, restaurant and hotel in Chatham’s stylish marina.
Dating from 1875, the Ship and Trades’ basic structure is a steel frame that once housed dockyard offices and an engineering shop. Recent renovation, though, has seen the interior completely transformed into a blissful, contemporary space – perfect for dinner, drinks and even a weekend stay in Chatham.
The ultra-modern venue boasts feature fireplaces, a comfortable lounge area and two ‘snugs’ for intimate gatherings. Meanwhile, images of boats, maps and ropework celebrate the area’s nautical heritage – and make sure the pub’s history is never forgotten.
Comfortable furnishings and soft lighting create a relaxed, laid-back ambience, in which you can enjoy bar meals, snacks and Shepherd Neame’s selection of traditional Kentish ales, distinctive international lagers and carefully-selected new world wines.
But the contemporary style also extends to 11 beautiful bedrooms – offering some of the best accommodation in Chatham and its surrounding areas.
A truly unique place to eat, drink and stay, the Ship and Trades pub sits right on the marina - with ample waterfront seating affording views across the River Medway to Upnor Castle.
It is perfectly situated for a trip to Dickens World or the Historic Dockyard - and with the bar and hotel near Rochester, it also offers the ideal base for discovering the town’s famous Norman castle and cathedral.
