Whether you are looking for a weekend in the glorious countryside, a mid-week break with excellent food, or a business get-together in congenial surroundings, The Griffin is the place to be!
The Griffin Inn has been owned by the Pullan family since 1979. During that time, they have built up an inn with a fantastic atmosphere comprising delicious locally sourced food, finest real local ales, a renowned wine list, roaring log fires, stunning garden views and finally thirteen beautiful individually designed bedrooms.
The Griffin has a renowned restaurant, seating 60, which is open every day except Sunday evenings, when the Bar Menu is available. The constantly changing menu is based around the best ingredients that are seasonally and locally available.
Modern European is the title that best describes the menu but, being more specific, there are strong influences from London’s famous River Café with which The Griffin has close family associations. This influence is also reflected in the wine list which has an excellent selection of Italian wines as well as wines from other major wine-producing countries…. including England.
There are thirteen bedrooms at The Griffin – four in the main part of the building, four in the coach house overlooking the garden, and five in Griffin House next door. Each room has an individual style with original pieces of furniture, quirky touches such as porthole mirrors, and colourful fabrics, while the en-suite bathrooms have either showers or cast iron bathtubs.
All the rooms in Griffin House are named after a well known Fletching family or personality. This room is in honour of the Thubron family who lived locally for many years.
Well known travel writer Colin still visits the Griffin and his father, Brigadier Gerald Thubron was the 1st Allied officer to enter Rome when it was liberated in 1944. Ground floor room looking out onto the village high street.
This rooms is in Griffin House, next door to the Inn. En-suite Bathroom.
