Details

With luxury rooms, fantastic food and real ales, The Brace of Pheasants is the perfect place to eat, drink and sleep when visiting beautiful rural Dorset.

They have eight en-suite bedrooms, four in the old skittle alley and the remainder upstairs above the pub. All the rooms have been decorated by interior designer Chrissy Potter.

Skittle Alley Rooms (1 to 4)

Access to the rooms is from the outside, there is a ramp to the rooms and then a small threshold step. These rooms are the largest and will suit people staying for long or short periods. There are also tables and chairs outside the rooms, which is a real sun trap.

Each room has the following:

• Zip-up beds that can be used as either a super-king size double or twin beds
• LCD televisions with Sky freeview
• Ceiling speakers in both the bedroom and bathroom
• Telephone (only Vodaphone seems to work around here)
• Tea and Coffee making facilities
• Umbrella
• Three rooms have both shower and extra wide bath, whilst the fourth has a walk-in shower.
• Complimentary toiletries

Pub Rooms (5 to 8)

Access to the rooms is from the existing staircase inside, this is quite steep and is not suitable for the elderly. These rooms have real character, with exposed roof beams and window seats. With the age of the building, there is not as much storage space and so these rooms suit shorter stays or people travelling light

Each room has the following:

• King size double beds
• LCD televisions with Freesat HD
• Telephone (only Vodafone seems to work around here)
• Tea and Coffee making facilities
• Two rooms have both shower and extra wide bath, whilst the other two have Japanese style soaking tub

As you would expect, situated in the heart of Dorset, they have fabulous produce virtually on the doorstep. The menus change daily and always keep an eye out for their specials board.

They are very passionate about their wine here at The Brace and have worked closely with Chris Piper to produce a balanced list to enhance and compliment the food. They have three main suppliers of real ales these being:

Ringwood - Best Bitter 3.8%
Flack Manor - Double Drop 3.7%
Palmer's - Best Bitter 4.0%

They also have on occasionally:

Yeovil Stargazer,
Otter Bitter and
Cottage Brewery’s Whippet Series Beers

All the ales are served direct from the cask. They also serve Budweiser and Peroni, Dorset Draft Cider and Weston’s Organic Cider. During the summer watch out for Cider by Rosie or Joe's Dry Cider. They are recommended in The Good Pub Guide 2014 and CAMRA's Good Beer Guide 2014
