The Golden Fern room is a single room and is furnished with a 4ft 6” brass bed and a pocket sprung mattress from Harrods. It has a wall mounted flat screen TV, the armoire is French and there is an en-suite shower room.

The Bull has 19 individually furnished bedrooms, finished with the highest standard of chic and style. Their gorgeous rooms are warm, inviting, unique, individual … some have vintage roll-top tubs, or grandstand views of Bridport street-life from original bay windows. Three have a four-poster bed.
They range in size from a petite single room to a vast family suite. They all feature glamorous signature wallpapers, deluxe king-size beds, flat-screen TVs, white black-out blinds, fine Egyptian cotton linen, robes, hospitality tray, and Bramley toiletries in luxury en suite bathrooms.
Food & Drink
There are two outstanding restaurants with a menu to die for, a cosy cocktail bar, private dining facilities, a courtyard garden perfect for warm summer dining and drinks or for wrapped up warm hot chocolates on crisp winters evenings.
Whether it’s their easy-going moules-frites (now a Wednesday night institution in Bridport), laid-back market-day brunch, a lavish celebration meal or morning coffee and cakes, they cater for every occasion with relaxed, rustic food.
Head Chef George Marsh runs a busy kitchen, baking all our bread, cakes and scones in-house and crafting a daily menu that lets the quality of the local produce and fresh fish shine.
They serve canapés in the Venner Bar on Friday nights (another local institution) and their pretty courtyard garden, the original stable yard, decked out with bunting and fairy lights, is an idyllic setting for a light summer lunch or evening cocktail.
They have a games room for the kids for the kid in you. Not forgetting, at the rear, the famous Stable pizza and cider restaurant serving their own take on the Italian classics with our hand-picked selection of ciders both local and further afield.

The Chinese double is one of the Petite Doubles, and is furnished with a five-foot painted rattan bed, a pocket-sprung mattress and flat-screen TV. The side tables are Parisian, the Wallpaper is by Manuel Canovas and the bathroom is white, light and airy. The originally painted antique mirror in the bathroom was bought in a Parisian flea market.
The second Flamingo room (everyone loves the dreamy Cole & Son wallpaper after all) the Flamingo Double is furnished with a five-foot white And So To Bed iron bed and pocket-sprung mattress. There is an antique hand-painted Chinese wardrobe, a mirrored console table and matching bedside drawers.
The en-suite bathroom is a daring pink with wood panelling. From a relaxing daybed, sprinkled with brilliant silk cushions, you can catch a bit of Bridport life from your second floor window.
The Black and White double has a 6ft French painted four poster bed with pocket sprung mattress, embossed metal bedside tables and chest of drawers from Mirrors and Chandeliers and the impressive metallic and black flock wallpaper is Cassis by Manuel Canovas. The magnificient elaborate mirror was a reclamation yard treasure.
The en-suite bathroom has an original Victorian fireplace which is exposed in renovation and is painted with Farrow and Ball Lamp Room Grey.
The Tiku Room is a Double furnished with an imposing black and gold steel five-foot bed and pocket-sprung mattress. There is a black mirrored console table and a vintage art deco mirror (picked up at a local auction), gilt rattan bedside tables from France, black velvet Louis-style armchairs and an antique painted wardrobe for the Shanxi province of China. The gold wallpaper is from Osborne & Little.
There is wall-mounted flat-screen TV and a spacious shower room.
The Stars Room is one of the Master Doubles and is furnished with an And So To Bed six-foot bed and a pocket-sprung mattress, a Tivoli Audio radio and flat-screen TV.
The room is furnished with an art deco style mirrored dressing table and matching night stands, the side tables are French and the wallpaper is by Osborne and Little.
The bathroom features painted tongue and groove panelling. They have added fluffy towels and the finest Frette Egyptian cotton linen.
This room is not only part of the old stable block (hence the original manger still in the corner of the bedroom) but was also where sick horses were cared for. At the entrance to the room is a steel hoist which was used to keep a sick horse standing.
The beautiful storks and gardens wallpaper is Jagmandir by Osborne and Little and the contrasting hexagonal wallpaper is by Mulberry.
The 6 foot brass bed is from And So To Bed and through an archway bunk beds have been beautifully crafted into a recess by the resident carpenter and renovation project manager Martin Chaplain.
The lacquered console table and the bedside tables were made to their specification by Asian Art and the 18th century hand painted Chinese wardrobe was from Yarrow Antiques. The wall light over the consol table is by Phillipe Starck as is the Tillee wall light in the ensuite shower room.
The Mulberry Room is one the beautiful doubles furnished with a five-foot iron and brass bed and a luxurious pocket-sprung mattress. The painted corner cabinet is vintage French, the silver wallpaper is Cole & Son, the bedside tables are mirrored art-deco style and the bath is an original vintage roll-top.
Interconnecting is a small room with designer Sellex bunk beds where there is a wall of groovy psychedelic wallpaper by Osborne and Little and a mini en-suite shower room.
The Green Fern and Butterfly room (named after the pretty Manuel Canovas wallpaper) is a Deluxe Double with a difference – it comes with an optional extra mini bedroom furnished with standard bunk beds. Thus, can be turned into a romantic room in a family room just by opening a door.
Green Fern has a six-foot rattan bed and pocket-sprung mattress dressed in white linen and an embroidered silk throw. The side tables are Parisian, the dresser is Mongolian. In the bathroom there is a vintage, rather rustic, roll-top bath and wooden floor.
The brown and gold paisley wallpaper by Zoffany and the corrugated bronze marble effect wallpaper by Osborne and Little are focal point of this lavishly stylised room.
The rooms features an And So To Bed pecan Louis XV caned 5 foot bed and Indian caned sofa, and in the corner by the fireplace is roll top slipper bath. There is an en-suite shower room too. This room can also sleep a family of three, with an armchair folding out into an extra bed.
The bright red wallpaper is Uni Royale by Brian Yates and the mirrored style silver wallpaper is by Osborne and Little. There is a 6 foot steel Aphrodite bed from And So To Bed and in the far corner we have exposed an original 16th century archway which they have backlit to expose the wonderful old brickwork.
The wall light over the black lacquered consol table is by Phillipe Starck. The huge Venetian starburst mirror was bought on ebay and the coffee table is an original 18th century hand painted leather Chinese chest on it’s original wooden stand. In the bathroom there is a roll top bath and walk-in shower.
The Fuchsia Flock has a 6ft mahogany poster bed, a stunning carved armoire from Denanon Antiques in Dorchester, a pink gilded chair from The French Depot and the stunning flock wallpaper is Designers Guild Coromandel Mulberry with the bedroom walls painted in Farrow and Ball Gervaise Yellow.
Double doors open to the bathroom where there is a gorgeous vintage rolltop bath in the centre of the room and a chaise long from The French Depot.
The bright green wallpaper is Uni Royale by Brian Yates and the metallic striped wallpaper is by Osborne and Little. There is a 5 foot steel Aphrodite bed from And So To Bed. There is a sofa bed and the beech coffee table was made by Brian Johnson who made all of the dining tables in The Bull and in The Stable.
The bedside tables and console table were made to our specification by Asian Art and the wonderful painting of a bull over the balustrade was by Bridport artist Katie Brent. There is an en-suite bathroom with overhead shower.
The Gold Room is one of their fabulous Deluxe Doubles and is furnished with a six-foot brass bed and a pocket-sprung mattress, a Tivoli Audio radio and flat-screen TV The night stands are by Signature, the carved Chinese dressing table is from Headful in Bridport, the wallpaper is Malabar by Cole & Son, the little gold Chesterfield sofa is antique.
There is a walk-in shower with separate loo. The roll-top bath is a vintage original, the mirror above the basin was found in a Clignancourt flea market in Paris. They have left the old wooden floors au naturelle, and they have added a deep-pile rug, fluffy towels, Egyptian cotton linen and Neal’s Yard toiletries.
The Four Poster Room, is the largest, most romantic, of the Deluxe Doubles and is furnished with a wonderful carved wood four-poster bed and a pocket-sprung mattress, Tivoli Audio radio and flat-screen TV.
The mirrored night stands and coffee table are by Philip Hunt, the red wallpaper is Rajapur by Cole & Son. The freestanding vintage roll-top bath, painted in a vivid Farrow and Ball red, sits on a decked wooden floor, and there is a two-person shower in the luxury bathroom. They have added an art deco mirror, an Arts & Crafts style wardrobe, fluffy towels and the finest Frette Egyptian cotton linen.
Rooftops is a Junior Suite Double with views across the rooftops and chimney pots of Bridport to West Bay and the sea. The wallpaper is Temple of Jupiter by Zoffany and the walls are painted in City Grey by Zoffany.
The beautiful king size brushed brass bed is from And So To Bed as are the huge brass bedside lights. In the sitting room the brown leather sofa is from Milo in Denmark and there is a Barcelona Chair and ottoman in maize. The sitting room and bathroom overlook the pretty courtyard.
The black laquered bedside tables and consol table are from Asian Art. The stunning copper pendant shades and wall lights are Phillip Starck’s K Tribe. As with all of the bathrooms the flooring is natural fibre Marmoleum.
All of the bathroom fittings in Rooftops are brass and we have retained the original peep through window in the bathroom that has been in the hotel for centuries.
The Flowers Suite, a spacious master double, has its own TV lounge, plus an adjoining twin room – perfect for a family. The master bedroom is furnished with a king-size iron bed (complete with pocket-sprung mattress). Retro red glass lamps stand on mirrored night stands. The bold pink flowers on a lime green background wallpaper has matching fabric covers a French antique stool.
Double doors open into the cosy lounge where a pair of two-seater Milo sofas face a large flat-screened television against a wall of Fitzrovia Red. A further door leads into a twin room, two white-wood single beds, antique bedside tables, a French desk, a washbasin and a more of that fabulous flowery wallpaper. There is, of course, a luxury bathroom.
