Traditional village inn, rated 3* by VisitBritain & AA, at the heart of Blackawton. This is a family friendly, dog friendly traditional village inn, serving good food, well kept cask ales, West Country ciders and a range of wines and soft drinks, in the centre of a working Devon village.

The George Inn, Blackawton is well known in the area as a very pleasant, traditional village local with a warm welcome and is popular with locals and visitors alike. The main bar is partly timbered and the end lounge has double folding doors to a terrace with fine views across open countryside towards the sea. Beyond the terrace is a pleasant, quiet garden, divided into a lawned area with children's swings and a gravelled area with tables and seating, with views to the south-west. This garden area, and our 3 star rated, first floor guest bedrooms.

The George Inn, Blackawton achieved a "Silver" award after an environmental audit by the Green Tourism Business Scheme.

Blackawton is buried in a maze of lanes about 4 miles north of Slapton. A lovely village with a real community spirit, an excellent primary school, a little shop cum Post Office and church with a lot of historical interest. Blackawton is a previous winner of the CPRE's “Best Kept Village” competition.

Food is served Mon – Sat 12:00-2:00pm & 6:00-9:00pm, Sun 12:00-2:00pm & 7:00-9:00pm. Great quality and value inn cooked local food. Standard menu, Childrens menu & specials menu are available. We have dishes that suit Vegetarians and Coeliacs or for those who are gluten intolerant.

The twin bed is also configurable as a King size and the room also has a sofa bed making it suitable as a family room for three people.

The room can also be connected to one of the double rooms, making it great for an older family or two adults in the double and three or four children in the twin and sofa bed.

Take the A381 towards Kingsbridge. Continue through Harbertonford and then through Halwell. At Totnes Cross BP petrol station turn left onto A3122 towards Dartmouth. At Forces Cross turn right, following the first sign for Blackawton, there is also a brown sign with The George inn listed. At the T junction turn right onto Main St, The George Inn will be on your left opposite St. Micheal's Church.
