The Cross Keys is a 16th Century Inn set in the beautiful Lune Valley making it a perfect base for visiting The Lakes, Yorkshire Dales or a break for a few days to get away for a tranquil rest.

All our rooms are equipped with the usual creature comforts such as Freeview digital tv, tea and coffee making facilities. A full English breakfast included in the price of the room.

Tony and his team are passionate about food and drink and are dedicated to offering you the finest local fresh food and ingredients at reasonable prices.

It doesn’t matter where you want to sit to eat your meal in The Cross Keys, the menu is the same and the standard of our service excellent throughout. Choose from dining in the restaurant, sitting by the open fire in the lounge, or eating al fresco whilst enjoying the view of the beautiful Lune Valley from the spacious garden at the rear of the Inn.

During the week food is served from midday to 3pm and again from 5pm to 9pm. On Saturdays and Sundays food is served all day from midday to 9pm.

The village is surrounded by the beautiful Howgill Fells - a series of magnificent open hills, most of them common land, providing some of the most spectacular scenery in the North of England for the dedicated hill walker.

We have received awards from Heritage Meats for the quality of our cooking of locally sourced ingredients and are proud to offer our own local favourites such as Bessy Beck Trout, Appleby Creamery Cheeses and bacon and sausage from Slack’s of Orton.

On Friday nights our ‘Fresh Fish Friday’ menu includes not only fish from local rivers and seafood from the nearby coast, but also carefully sourced favourites from further afield including Scottish salmon and haddock delivered fresh from the North Sea every Friday. We have just intorduced Steak or Chicken SIZZLERS to our Menu they have gone down a treat with everyone, the smell alone helps people to choose what they want from the Menu!

Our superb selection of international wines has been specially selected to complement our menu. Or you may wish to accompany your meal with one of our award-winning cask ales or super-chilled lagers or Guinness.
