Details

The Portree Hotel was originally built in 1875, is located in the town's main street and has recently undergone extensive refurbishment.

Portree is a small town, set around a picturesque natural harbour. The harbour itself is a hub of activity as it continues to be utilised by fishing boats and many visiting cruise ships. Portree is a beautiful, peaceful town, with rich history and culture, and as such has become a bustling tourist destination. It is a great base from which to explore other parts of the island to experience its natural beauty and unspoilt landscapes. It is also surrounded by spectacular views, part of the majestic Cuillin Mountain Range being one of them.

The new Antlers Bar and Grill and West Highland Bar have been tastefully refurbished, this includes wood burning stoves which creates a cosy and comfortable atmosphere.

Live music will be provided at weekends through the winter months and every night during the summer season.

Portree is the cultural hub for Skye and one of its main attractions, the award-winning Aros Centre, runs regular theatre, concerts and film screenings. The centre also incorporates an exhibition capturing the drama of Skye's history, a spectacular RSPB exhibit with live and recorded footage of rare sea eagles plus an audio-visual presentation giving a dramatic aerial view of Skye's incredible landscapes.

The town is a popular base for exploring the rest of the island. Many visitors are drawn to the spectacular scenery of the Trotternish Ridge to the north as this wild area is dominated by wierd and wonderful rock formations such as the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and the truly extraordinary pinnacles of Quaraing.

The new management team look forward to welcoming you, and will endeavour to ensure that your stay on The Isle of Skye is a truly memorable one.
