Wigan Little Theatre has come a long way since 1943 when a small group of people met to discuss the formation of a play-reading and discussion group. Since the opening of our theatre in 1948, it has been the premier theatre venue in Wigan ever since.

Today we present eight productions a year, including our hugely popular pantomime. We bring drama, comedy and musical theatre to appreciative and loyal audiences throughout the season which runs from September to June.

Members are all volunteers - from actors, set builders and painters, front of house, props to lighting and sound teams, as well as bar and refreshment sales. We always aim to reach professional standards and have often been praised for doing just that. The theatre is proud of the range of members it has with very diverse areas of expertise which they bring from their careers and day jobs.

Our productions are often the first experience of theatre for many people which often leads to a lifelong love of the performing arts. Across the decades, our audiences have enjoyed the huge pool of talent on offer, not only on the stage but also in the creative, technical and supporting departments. We have life-long members who provide continuity and pass on their skills and theatrical know-how, as well as young members who bring new talent and much enthusiasm.
