Visit Trentham Gardens all year round

Whether you’re looking for a garden with peace and quiet, or fun and action you will find a great day out here at Trentham.

The new-look gardens have matured into some of the finest in Britain, to be called by Alan Titchmarsh - no less - as “one of the UK’s must-see gardens”.

We are an award winning garden which in 2013 won the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Gold Award, in 2014 was highly commended by Visit England in the large visitor attraction category and in September 2010, the Gardens won one of the most prestigious European gardening awards, for the “Restoration, Enhancement or Development of a Historic Park or Garden”. What matters most of all is what our visitors think and we’re delighted that they voted us BBC Countryfile’s Garden of the Year 2015.

The contemporary revival of the famous Italian Gardens was led by renowned designer and multi-Chelsea gold-medal winner Tom Stuart-Smith.

To the east of the Italian Gardens are the Rivers of Grass and the adjacent Floral Labyrinth. Both these schemes were designed by eminent Dutch plantsman, and Chelsea gold-medal winner, Piet Oudolf.

At the centre of Trentham Gardens is the mile long, Capability Brown designed, Trentham Lake. Take the circular lakeside walk all the way round as it takes you aside the River Trent, by the bird hide, through Capability Brown’s cascading weir and along atmospheric woodland trails.

The show gardens offer further inspiration to gardeners on a more domestic scale.

Trentham Gardens is a photographers dream, just take a look at the snaps visitors have taken during their visits to the gardens and if you’re on Instagram remember the #trenthamgardens.

Trentham isn’t just a great garden, it’s a garden great enough to have fairies living in it! Take the fairy trail and keep your eyes peeled as you walk around our beautiful mile long lake, and through the woodland, maze and gardens where the fairies live.

There’s also the exciting adventure playground where children can tackle the assault course, fly down the zip wire, get creative in the sand pits, climb the nets, test their driving skills or get lost in the hide and speak maze.

During the spring, summer and autumn months you can go naked from the knees down on our barefoot walk, take a trip across the lake on the Miss Elizabeth or take a miniature train ride as it travels along the lakeside. With all this going on Trentham Gardens is the perfect place to keep the kids active in the school holidays.

Trentham Gardens is also dog friendly and visitors tell us how much their dogs love their days out here.
