Cwm Hedd LakesNewport, Cardiff Category Outdoor Activities, Nature & Wildlife
Cwm Hedd is a seven acre, spring fed lake situated on the outskirts of Newport, just two minutes from junction 28 of the M4.
Set in its own tranquil valley, the fishery has a well deserved reputation for the quality of both its trout and facilities. Trout are stocked weekly and sourced from Exmoor Fisheries in Somerset, at weights from 2lb upwards. There are forty wooden platforms, eight of which are designed for those anglers who are less able or disabled.
Our cosy lodge with its woodburning stove is open to all during fly-fishing opening hours. The Graig Diamond Jubilee path route passes directly in front of the lodge, so it’s a great place to stop off for a bite to eat or a welcome cuppa.
Hot and cold refreshments are available on weekends until 2pm, including lovely cooked breakfasts from 9.30am – 1pm.
Light hot and cold refreshments are also available Wednesday-Friday from 10.15 am-1pm. (Lodge/lakes close at 2pm Wed-Fri)
We recommend anglers and non-anglers to book cooked breakfasts in advance and are happy to ring anglers on the lakeside 5-10 minutes before it is ready. (Rest assured that time spent in the lodge will be added to the hours booked on your fly fishing ticket).
