Lanhydrock House & GardensBodmin Category Museums & Galleries
Lanhydrock is the perfect country house and estate, with the feel of a wealthy but unpretentious family home.
After a devastating fire in 1881 the house was refurbished in the high-Victorian style, with the best in country-house design and planning, and the latest mod cons.
Soak up the atmosphere of this Victorian country home as you take in its sights, smells and sounds. From the downstairs world of the kitchen staff, through the grand family reception rooms, light and airy nurseries, elegant bedrooms and generous servants’ quarters, you can step back in time at Lanhydrock....
As you explore the higher gardens you'll find six exciting new sculptural installations amongst the magnolia and rhodedendrons. Local artists John Christian, Garry Johnson and Fiona Campbell created lively contemporary metalwork for us, which will change with the seasons as the materials weather.
Lanhydrock estate covers 1,000 acres, with parkland, woods and riverside paths. Guides of the many walks to explore are available in reception, at the gatehouse or the shop.Wildlife spotters will be in their element here, with plenty of flora and fauna to discover, from flowers to fungi and bugs to bats there's something for everyone.
